Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my online Phlebotomy Technician course online! Throughout the duration of this course, we will cover chapters in your Phlebotomy Worktext and Procedures textbook along with supportive PowerPoint presentations. Content that I have highlighted in PowerPoint are typically used in quizzes and/or the final exam. During each session, I have included review questions that will summarize each chapter and counts towards your participation attendance grade.

Options Available for Hybrid Learning – All students have the option to participate in class sessions weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 PM during “live webinar class sessions” to stay in sync with the hands-on labs that will be provided at the campus. This reduces the amount of time you have to physically attend the class. The webinar sessions stream live from the classroom, so you can choose to participate via online and/or attend the campus classroom for traditional learning. Regardless of the option you select for the theory/lecture, you MUST attend the actual campus for the hands-on clinical labs to learn your blood draw techniques and proper occupational training related to work as a Phlebotomy Technician.

Online Live Webinar Class Sessions – All students are required to log in and complete sessions weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 PM during “live webinar class sessions” to stay in sync with the hands-on labs that will be provided at the campus. If you miss a live webinar session, a recorded version will be posted within 8 hours of the session end time so that you can view it at a later time. Each student is responsible for making up any missed session.  You must complete all materials provided for each session before moving on to the next session.

Hands-on Clinical Labs – I will be contacting each of you regarding the days of the hands-on clinical labs that will be conducted here at Southern Technical Institute Tavares Campus. It is extremely important that you attend all scheduled clinical labs so that we can get you ample practical experience to prepare you for work as a phlebotomist. Examples of clinical lab skills include the practice of infection control, safety, blood draw technique and processing samples in the centrifuge.

If any have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me via email adunnaway@southerntechnicalinstitute.com or phone (352) 508-5560. I will respond to your phone call or email within 24 hours with the exception of weekends. If you prefer face-to-face meetings, I will be available each Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00PM to 10:00PM at the campus.

Don’t have your book handy for an online lesson? No worries, we have you covered!

I have provided a digital copy of your textbook which is the same as your hard copy distributed the first day of class.
